Legal Specialist (Contracts and Privacy) [Applications Closed]

Responsibilities

  • Understand complex global privacy and data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and apply legal concepts to business and data constructs and processes
  • Conduct outreach (via e-mail) to suppliers and business partners identified by Mastercard’s Privacy and Data Protection team and the relevant business teams, using a pre-approved playbook, to negotiate stand-alone data transfer agreements for the purposes of complying with CJEU’s Schrems II judgment and incorporating new set of Standard Contractual Clauses issued by the European Commission
  • Review and negotiate stand-alone data protection agreements with suppliers and business partners and escalate to corresponding Privacy and Data Protection subject matter experts as needed.
  • Be accountable for, track and maintain all date protection agreements prepared, revised and executed in consultation with the business unit client and other subject matter experts, and in accordance with approved policies and playbooks

Job Requirements

  • Must be a minimum LLB graduate; CIPP/E or any IAPP certification will be an added advantage

Responsibilities

  • Understand complex global privacy and data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and apply legal concepts to business and data constructs and processes
  • Support all aspects of the privacy compliance assurance program, in close cooperation with Privacy subject matter experts
  • Support Business Units outreach to enable Self-Assessment, follow-up on compliance questionnaires, assess responses and drive escalation as necessary

Counsel, Privacy and Data protection

Responsibilities

  • The Counsel will be responsible for ensuring that Mastercard’s Loyalty programs and marketing campaigns comply with privacy and data-related laws in the Europe region, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”)
  • The role will work directly with the business to implement Privacy by Design in products and processes while enabling business innovation.
  • The position will report to the Senior Managing Counsel – Privacy & Data Protection and will be a member of the Global Privacy & Data Protection team as well as a member of the European Law, Franchise & Integrity (LFI) team.
  • The position is in London or Waterloo.

    Role

Legal Counsel (APAC, Data, and Services)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing strategic legal support to the Data & Services vertical and also responsible for other work, including project-based work and pan-region work, which will be assigned.
  • Partner with sales, infosec, management, and others to draft and negotiate agreements and resolve regulatory and contracting issues to meet our customers’ and cardholders’ rapidly changing needs. Customers include financial institutions as well as digital technology companies, global telecommunications companies, innovative payments startups, merchants, and government.
  • Collaborate with in-house and external specialists (including regulatory, AML compliance, data protection, intellectual property, and anti-trust counsel) to identify relevant issues and help the business effectively navigate legal risks.
  • Instruct and supervise a network of external law firms in assigned countries.
  • Deal with jurisdictional and commercial complexities that have an impact on Mastercard’s business (accordingly, the nature of the legal function includes a commercial and strategic dimension).

Job Requirements
